THANKS FOR THE GENEROSITY OF HBBCA MEMBERS
Thanks again to the many members of the HBBCA who have generously donated in addition to their dues in support of the goal and objectives of the HBBCA. This generosity has allowed the HBBCA to maintain its dues at $5.00 per year for the 24 years of its existence despite the increasing cost of doing business.

NEXT REGULAR MEETING NOVEMBER 22TH IN EUREKA - HELP SET PRIORITIES FOR 2007
The next regular HBBCA meeting will be held at Chapala’s Mexican Restaurant at 2nd and C Streets in Eureka on Monday, January 22nd on Monday, November 27th. Those interested in joining us for dinner can order at 6:00 p.m. The meeting will begin at 6:30. The meeting is open to the public. One item to be included will be “Priorities for 2007.”

Please mark your calendars and plan to attend. For more information, check the HBBCA website at www.humbike.org.

BIKE TO WORK DAY 2007
We are hoping to get some new energy and involvement in organizing the 2007 Bike to Work Day activities. If you are interested please attend our next meeting on January 22nd (See above). We definitely need to get more involvement in Arcata, but assistance with the Eureka activities is also invited.

ANYONE INTERESTED IN MAINTAINING THE HBBCA WEBSITE?
If you would be interested in maintaining the HBBCA website—humbike.org, please contact one of the Board members listed in this newsletter. Ideally, it would be as a volunteer, but if compensation is required, we would be happy to consider that. At a minimum, bimonthly newsletters need to be posted in a timely manner; meeting announcements posted; and annually the photo gallery is revised. Periodically, minor additions or corrections are made.

SPEAK UP ABOUT TRANSPORTATION FUNDING
According to December 11, 2006 edition of the American Bicyclist Update from the League of American Bicyclists, the National Surface Transportation Policy and Revenue Study Commission will hold four field hearings in 2007 across the United States. The hearings will allow Commissioners to solicit input from federal, state and local transportation officials as well as the general public regarding transportation needs and solutions in their regions. The LAB urges the bicycling community to be actively involved to ensure a broad system approach to future transportation funding.

A website is to be established to keep the public advised of hearings et al. We will provide additional information as it becomes available to us.
